What if your boat could do more than take you out on the water? In 2025, we explored that question with our 3D-printed boat. The result is an electric boat that can also function as a home battery, storing energy and making it available when you need it. Your boat becomes part of the energy system around your home, connecting sustainable mobility on the water with smart energy use on land.
The battery can store energy generated by solar panels of your house, allowing you to make better use of the energy you produce yourself. Instead of using solar power only when the sun is shining, energy can be stored in the boat and used later. For example to power your home, charge an electric car or boat, or reduce the amount of energy you need from the grid. In this way, the battery on board becomes an extra energy buffer for your home.
The system was developed by the IMPACD team as a complete solution for an IMPACD owner. The technology can be integrated into the home, making the IMPACD 570 more than an electric boat. It becomes a flexible part of a smarter, more independent energy system.
A boat does not have to stop being useful when it is back at the dock. It can store energy, support your home and help you make better use of what you generate yourself. One boat, multiple functions and a whole new way of thinking about what a boat can be.
